The third edition of the Australia-Netherlands Water Challenge has officially launched this month on campuses throughout Australia.
Building on two previous successful editions of the program, the challenge is once again broadly supported by companies and organisations from both Australia and the Netherlands.
A newly invited Board of Recommendation, chaired by Hans Huis in 't Veld, chairman of the Topsector Water the Netherlands, is making a strong and enthusiastic appeal to young Australians to get actively involved with the knowledge partnership between both countries.
Under the theme LET'S TALK RESILIENCE!, the program is inviting fresh ideas to strengthen the resilience of Australia and the Netherlands in the face of climate extremes.
The program boasts a host of opportunities:
- Four teams will be invited to present their ideas at the Floodplain Management Association National Conference in Brisbane (19-22 May 2015). A dedicated plenary session has been scheduled to allow the teams to make an impression in front of hundreds of professionals.
- A judging committee, chaired by Dutch Consul General Mr Willem Cosijn, will select two teams for an exclusive traineeship in the Netherlands. The traineeship consists of project assignments, field trips, company visits, social activities and much more.
- The last week of their program in the Netherlands, the teams will join other young professionals from the around the world for the International Water Week 2015 in Amsterdam.
- Throughout the program, the teams will be supported by a team of experts from Australia and the Netherlands. In addition, they have access to a dedicated online platform (BlueSpring) to exchange information, schedule and coordinate activities and - after the program - keep in touch with each other and their mentors.
